Onyx by Maese Pau is a fragrance for women and men. Onyx was launched in 2024. The nose behind this fragrance is Pablo Emanuel Locascio Poletto. The fragrance features Opoponax, Ceylon Cinnamon, Resin, Brazilian Rosewood, Cacao, Himalayan Cedar, Sicilian Lemon, Black Cardamom, Sage, Tolu Balsam, Patchouli and Ambergris. In ancient times there was a black stone called Onyx that represented the deities of the night and their excesses. There was no such radical moral notion of “good” or “bad” as it emerged later and almost to this day. There were even gods and goddesses who represented issues such as lust, enjoyment, parties, sexual attraction, sensuality and pleasure. And they were not disdained but revered. For the Greeks they were Eros, Aphrodite, Pan and Dionysus. For the Canaanites and Egyptians he was Quetesh. The Vikings, for their part, had Freyja. For the Aztecs she was the goddess Xocotzin. The Guaraníes had Kurupi. Even Buddhists have Kuni. The common denominator for all of them was always the night and as strange as it may seem, a particular stone represented them, whether in America, Europe, Asia or the East, it was always the black Onyx. None of these people took as bad what made them enjoy or feel pleasure, on the contrary, they felt it as part of their being and nature. They were not ashamed of sensuality nor were sex or wild parties taboo, they were part of human nature. And just as virtue and goodness could not be denied, neither should the rest of the feelings that made up the being be hidden. This perfume was created in 2012 after a long anthropological and historical research on these deities and the spices, resins and woods that were used to honor and venerate them on different continents. Onix is a tribute to those instincts that are so much ours, as well as those of those gods who gave them to us. INGREDIENTS: Patchouli from Java, Rosewood from Brazil, Orientalgris from Bahamas, Himalayan Cedar from Bhutan, Somali Opoponax resin, Sicilian lemon, Roman sage, Ceylon cinnamon, Dominican cocoa, Nepalese black cardamom, Tolu balm.
